RAM® Flex Adhesive Ball Base
RAM Round Plastic Base with 1" Ball and Adhesive

The RAP-B-378U consists of a 2.5" composite base that connects to a 1" ball, double-sided adhesive PSA stick pad and sealed alcohol prep pad. This base will attach to all RAM double socket arms that will accommodate 1" ball bases. The base is somewhat flexible so it can conform to slightly curved surfaces.

Note: I use this in my car as part of my iPhone mount - together with a RAP-B-201U and RAM-HOL-UN7BU.

Note: A single RAM-202PSAU adhesive discs is included. You may want to order a few extras for future use.

Tip: To assure solid and reliable adhesion:

Clean the mounting surface and the base of the RAP-B-378U with the provided alcohol wipe immediately before application
Remove the plastic from one side of the adhesive disc and apply it to the RAP-B-378U base.
Remove the plastic from the other side of the adhesive disc and press the base firmly onto the mounting surface for about 1 minute.
Wait 24 hours before mounting the arm and Oudie on the base. This allows the adhesive to setup.

Q: Does this come with a larger ball?
A: No, but you can attach one of our RAM-202U C size round plate with ball to our Bond A Base to create a similar base mount.

Q: The mount didn’t have any instructions for mounting this, what is the tube of glue and alcohol prep pad for? Are there preferred mounting surfaces? Are there preferred mounting angles (should the pad be in shear or compression?).
A: On this product page if you click Resources and see the INSTALL GUIDE. Flex adhesive ball base provides a strong mounting surface in a wide variety of use cases, such as a vehicle dash. If you got the X-Grip with your order the tube of glue is to put in the caps before you put on the medal legs. This is to give you a longer lasting hold.

Q: How do you remove the base from one location and move to another surface? Is the adhesive reusable?
A: The adhesive is difficult to remove and reuse, please see RAM-202PSAU for additional 3M adhesive.

Q: Will this work on a textured vertical surface of a dash (versus a horizontal dash) to hold an phone?
A: Yes, the RAP-B-378U is a good choice for a vertical mount in places where a drill down base isn't an option.

Q: Will this stick and hold well to the plastic dash in a utv
A: Yes, the RAM-B-378U is a good option for textured or porous surfaces that a suction cup would not be suitable for.

Q: In order to select the correct glue, I need to know what kind of plastic the base is made of.
A: The RAP-B-378U comes with a double sided adhesive pad from 3M, no additional glue or other adhesives are required.

Q: The adhesive pad has yellow paper on one side and black clear plastic on the other. Which side should adhere to the ball base and which to the surface? Or does it matter?
A: No, it does not matter which side you use to attach to the Flex Adhesive Ball Base or the mounting surface. The adhesive is the same on both sides of the disk.

Q: Is this removable without damaging the dash?
A: Yes, the Flex Adhesive bases like the RAP-B-378U can be removed by using a hair dryer or heat gun on a low setting and applying hot, moving air to the base itself. The adhesive will turn more tacky than sticky and you will be able to slowly and carefully peel the base off of the mounting surface.
