Flex Arm Assembly, Instrument Panel Mount - with Panel Mounted DB-9f Connector - My Favorite Option
Perfect for mounting and RAM or Nimbus cradle to the instrument panel of your sailplane. I recommend this option over the GNeck2-Assy-Thru because it offers a more rigid system which is especially important when mounting to fiberglass or carbon fiber instrument panels. Also, the GnBase2 mounts on the front (pilot side) of the panel and the flex arm screws into it - so the flex arm can be removed quickly and easily without the need to get behind the panel. The panel mounted DB-9f connector is the panel end of either a CAI-Pnl-0.5 or LX7007-Pnl-0.5 cable. The CAI-Pnl-0.5 cable runs from the back of a Cambridge 302 or Goddard PS-5a power converter or Borgelt PDA-PS power converter to a panel mounted DB-9f connector. The LX7007-Pnl-0.5 runs from the back of an LX7007 to a panel mounted DB-9f connector. The panel end of either of those cables mounts to the back of the instrument panel and is accessible through a small rectangular hole in the panel. The panel connector can be used to connect to a PDA or PC.
The flex arm is available in 3 in (76 mm), 6 in (152 mm) and 9 in (229 mm) lengths. The photo at right shows the 6 inch model.

Note: Most customers are satisfied with the rigidness of these goosenecks. However, they are friction devices and the longer length units are less stiff than the short length units. Gooseneck flex arms work best when positioned more or less straight. They will hold much less load when bent with a sharp angle - such as a right angle bend.
