Being a Servant and Witness
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very
nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but
made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in
human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself
and became obedient to death -- even death on a cross! --Philippians 2:5-8
[Jesus said] You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before
men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
--Matthew 5:14-16
In your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an
answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you
have. But do this with gentleness and respect. --1 Peter 3:15
Make every effort to add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to
self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to
godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you
possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being
ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. --2
Peter 1:5-8 As God's chosen people,
holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience. --Colossians 3:12
The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of
all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good
fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest
of righteousness. --James 3:17-18 Make
the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of
grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
--Colossians 4:5-6 A wife of noble
character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies... She watches
over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises
her. --Proverbs 31:10 27-28 Jesus
said,] "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age." --Matthew 28:18-20 Love
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is
not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs. --1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is
like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. --Matthew 22:37-39
God Loves Us
As it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has
conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. - 1 Corinthians 2:9
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. --John 3:16
Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request
to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. --Philippians 4:6-7
God did not send his Son into the world to
condemn the world, but to save the world through him. --John 3:17
Have not I commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your
God will be with you wherever you go. --Joshua 1:9
At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the
ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good
man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love
for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. --Romans
5:6-8
Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of
death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He
gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. --1 Corinthians 15:55-57
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came
by Christ Jesus. --Romans 3:23-24
God the Creator of a Complex World
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.- Ecclesiastes 11:5
Prayer
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be
healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. --James
5:16
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for
this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. --1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 |
